Dear Harvard Chan Students,

You are cordially invited to participate in our graduation week events including Harvard Chan Convocation and Harvard University Commencement! We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments along with your families and guests in May.

This message includes preliminary information about graduation events and what to expect next. Students and guests can find detailed information about attending ceremonies on the graduation website.

Graduation Week Ceremonies

Harvard Chan Convocation will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Graduates from the Class of 2024 will be presented individually on the ceremony stage, with a reception to immediately follow at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Harvard University Commencement will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Tercentenary Theatre in Cambridge at 9:30 AM. The deans of the faculties from each school will present their degree candidates and the president will confer degrees.

Additional graduation week events include the Harvard Chan Awards Presentation and Ceremony on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, and University celebrations and events taking place from Monday, May 20 through Thursday, May 23, 2024.

What Should I Expect Next?

The graduating students website is your source for all things graduation. We recommend that you check this website regularly throughout the spring for updates and information about participating in graduation events.

The Ceremony Information Response Form (CIRF) will be sent to your Harvard email in February. The CIRF is where you register to participate in Convocation and Commencement and request guest tickets.
Graduating students who are participating in the ceremonies will receive up to three (3) guest tickets for Harvard Chan Convocation and up to two (2) guest tickets for Harvard University Commencement. Graduating students do not need tickets to participate in the ceremonies.
Order your regalia from the COOP by April 7. All graduating students participating in Convocation and Commencement are required to wear official Harvard regalia as approved by the Harvard University Commencement Office and distributed by the Harvard Coop. If the cost to rent regalia will cause financial hardship, complete the Regalia Rental Hardship Application before ordering regalia.
Submit your speeches to the Harvard Chan Student Speaker Contest by March 22 and the Harvard University Student Orations Contest by March 22 to compete to speak at Convocation and Commencement.
Save the dates for Grad Fair on March 19 through March 21 to speak with graduation vendors, try on regalia, and pose for a graduation portrait.
Smile for the class photo on April 3. Class photo prints will be available for purchase.
Request visa support letters for your guests who need to obtain a visa to travel to the US.
