Dear Friend,

Meet our
Re•Focus Curators

As we look forward to summer, we want to take another moment to uplift our beautiful Re•Focus photo exhibit, on view online now through June 30, and introduce you to our four exhibit curators. These artists, coming from all corners of our community, had the challenging task of going through hundreds of compelling portraits from the last decade to decide on 13 final diptychs for the exhibit. Click on any of their portraits to read longer bios and a short interview from them about their Re•Focus experience:

Dirk Anschütz is a New York based commercial and fine art photographer, originally from Germany. Dirk collaborated with Upstream Arts Staff and Participants on our very first portrait exhibition in 2010.
Cándida González is a queer Puerto Rican public artist, arts organizer, and mixed media jewelry maker under the name of Las Ranas Jewelry. Cándida helped coordinate our 2015 photo exhibition at Roosevelt High School and is the parent of an Upstream Arts participant.
Tommy Sar is a visual artist and disability advocate who has worked with arts organizations across the Twin Cities to increase access. Tommy also brought his expertise as a photographer to our curatorial table.
Aki Shibata is a visual and public artist from Japan whose work endeavors to "create more places and ways to let people meet their peace." Aki is currently a faculty member at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and is getting to know our work for the first time.

Thanks to you, we can take it to the next level.

Thanks to your immense generosity during SpringForwardMN, we only have $501 left to go to reach our $35,000 goal by the end of our fiscal year June 30! Because of this incredible show of support, our Staff can shift focus from fundraising to getting our NEW Self-Advocacy programming off the ground. If you want to help us savor the sweet satisfaction of a met goal, you can contribute any amount to support our Self-Advocacy programming here. From all of us at Upstream Arts, THANK YOU for investing in access, and stay tuned for more announcements about our Self-Advocacy programming in next week's newsletter!
