Paul was as comfortable in the presence of Kings and Queens as he was helping a slave girl to be set free. Christianity cuts cleanly across classes. People are never so broken that they are beyond redemption. The wealthy are never beyond recognition of their spiritual needs which money cannot supply.
After Felix and Festus, Paul proclaimed the good news of the resurrection in the presence of Agrippa. He did his level best to bring Agrippa to trust in Christ. The king interrupted and said, “Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?” Paul answered passionately, “Short time or long I wish everyone could become a believer as I have.”
What is the time urgency with the gospel? What difference does it matter whether we believe today? Felix said, “I’ll bring you back at a more convenient time.” Festus said, “You are crazy from all of your learning.” Agrippa asked, “In such a short time?” To governors and kings, Paul extended an invitation to meet the King of Kings. There is no time like the present. Later in a letter to the Corinthian believers he said, “Today is the day of salvation. Now is the acceptable time.” As one poet put it, “Only one life, ‘twill soon be past. Only what is done for Christ will last.”
