When Jim Westerhold ’97 decided to donate one of his kidneys to a stranger earlier this year, many of his friends asked him why he would literally give a part of himself to someone he did not know. For him, it all boiled down to one notion: "I've been overly blessed, and I couldn't come up with a reason not to." Now, nine months after the procedure and meeting Gene Pitts, the recipient of his kidney, both have a renewed appreciation for their lives.

- Beginning Monday, December 22, Highway 93 westbound will be reduced to a single lane between Newman Road and Cherry Road as work begins on the Douthit Hills expansion project. The closure is expected to last for two days and will be reopened each evening.

Beginning Monday, December 29, Highway 93 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions to remove a section of the median divider. The lane closures are expected to last for five days. Visit the Clemson University Facilities construction map for updates to University projects.
