As the global community of practice committed to elevating human experience in healthcare, we remain focused now, as always, on partnering with you to support our shared purpose.

This report explores features of radiology report summaries (besides simply the high level of reading comprehension assumed) that can affect how patients understand and interpret the provided information. Researchers compared different types of radiology report summaries to determine which styles would be most effective in communicating information about a diagnosis and need for follow-up testing to patients. The report also attempts to identify words and phrases that could be misleading or anxiety-provoking to patients to guide radiologists away from using these in future reports.

"Telehealth has been instrumental during this time and has become more readily accepted. COVID-19 has in many ways acted as a tipping point for telehealth utilization. Providing the fundamental tools for a physician to be successful in a virtual environment and monitoring and following up on patient feedback has never been more important. Our data reveal that we can have a great impact on both physicians and patients in this care delivery model."
