Hi Neighbor!

We have exciting news to share!
MainLine Neighbors' brand new website is LIVE!

The new MainLine Neighbors site is a Community, Arts and Culture hub for the suburbs of Philadelphia! It is where we connect our neighbors to events, organizations, charities and businesses in the community. It’s been our mission since 2004, to lend support to all of the local charity and non-profit organizations doing amazing work. We spread the word so the community can help support those efforts.  Our new site continues in that mission, with an emphasis on arts and culture, especially in the burbs!  Philadelphia is an amazing city, and offers so much to do and to see. But you can also see and do so much right here, in the suburbs! We want people to get out and see a show, visit an exhibit, take their family or friends to an art festival… basically, to get out there and discover all the amazing things happening in our vibrant community!

So please check us out … then, get out there and laugh, sing, dance, connect, learn, applaud, reflect, play and most of all… ENJOY!

And please let us know what you think of our new site!

BridgeClimb

Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge - all the way to the top. You start at street level and then ascend above the cacophony of traffic and city sounds. On the way your guide will tell you about the structure you are climbing, about its unique and storied history. At the top there is only a soft breeze and a vast, soundless horizon. From here you can hold the Sydney Opera House in the palm of your hand and, if dusk is approaching, watch the sun melt into the water.

Explore Chippendale and Redfern
Few tourists venture into Chippendale and Redfern - neighborhoods that were once slums but are now undergoing an urban revitalization. The architecture is eclectic, the neighborhoods' gritty past pushing up against a future that is smooth and sleek. Locally owned shops line the streets offering everything from coffee to exotic furniture. Wall murals are commonplace and each one tells a story. Explore the past, present and future in these relatively unknown but electric areas.

From Pot to Plate
Step on a boat in Byron Bay and venture into the past, experiencing the traditional cultural and hunting practices of the Aboriginal people. At the Terranora Lakes, you leave the boat and wade in water up to your waist with a spear, trying to spot fish in clear water against a lush green island backdrop. On the muddy shores, you can find crab to catch and the guides cook it over an open flame. You step back on the boat and are driven to the pots of crab, eating oysters along the way. When you reach the pots, you haul them up one by one and lunch is served.

June 8th - 9th

Gilbert & Sullivan’s hilarious tale of conflict between immortal fairies and mortal members of Parliament, fun for the whole family. For over 118 years, The Savoy Company has been bringing Gilbert & Sullivan productions to the greater Philadelphia area. Proceeds from our 2018 production benefit Chester Children’s Chorus.
