On Wednesday, September 21, at about 10:30 p.m., the Department of Campus Safety received a report of a motorized scooter theft that occured between 9:30 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. in Schwartz Plaza, in Manhattan. The victim, an NYU student, declined reporting this incident to the police.
Two similar incidents, both occuring in Schwartz Plaza, were reported by NYU students within a period of seven days. On September 19, an electric bike was stolen between 5:10 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. On September 15, an electric scooter was stolen between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Both victims filed a report with the police.
Description of Reported Offenders: None of the victims were present at the time of the crime. However, the Department of Campus Safety has identified the following persons of interest for each incident:
For the September 21st incident, the person of interest is described as male-presenting, with a light complexion and medium build, around 45 to 50 years old, wearing a blue t-shirt and gray shorts, navy blue baseball cap, white sneakers and carriying a black backpack.
For the September 19 incident, the person of interest is described as male-presenting, with a light complexion, around 50 years old, wearing a black hat, dark blue shirt, black jeans, black sneakers and carriying three backpacks.
For the Septmber 15 incident, the person of interest is described as male-presenting, with a light complexion, wearing a green t-shirt, gray pants, gray sneakers and carrying a black backpack.
