VOLUNTEER AGAIN

Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction

It was wonderful seeing so many familiar volunteer faces at our Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction on April 22nd. Our staff had a fantastic time meeting the guests and partying with a purpose!

We are honored to spotlight Tejas P. as our May Volunteer of the Month.

Tejas has volunteered his precious time to the Redwood Empire Food Bank as a distribution site volunteer for over 2 years. He is respectful, kind, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome.

Tejas is an integral part of our Saturday distributions, helping us serve groceries to hundreds of families in need each week. He leads the volunteers to ensure that our distribution flows smoothly and that our participants are served with dignity and respect. Tejas is always willing to step in and help where needed, including days that are 100 degrees or pouring rain. He even recruits his parents to help on days when we are short volunteers.

Tejas’ commitment, dedication, and drive has laid the foundation of his success and we are excited to see what the future holds for this young man. Thank you, Tejas, for your time and dedication to the Redwood Empire Food Bank and for helping End Hunger in Our Community.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank will be closed Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day, and Monday, June 19th for Junteenth.
We are looking for volunteers at these Urgent Needs Sites.
We invite those that are willing to roll up their sleeves and help at a moment’s notice to please consider joining the Apple Core volunteer group.

New Volunteer Opportunities

Super Volunteers
We are looking for a few Super Volunteers to help with warehouse shifts on Tuesday evenings, Fridays, and Saturdays. The ideal volunteer will be able to commit to a regular schedule. Please contact Liz at eberry@refb.org if you are interested in this role.

Distribution Site W5 (check-in) volunteers
If you volunteer at a distribution site and are interested in learning how to check-in our participants on a computer, please contact Katie at kkarns@refb.org.

Windsor Pride Festival
We are looking for a volunteer (or a few) to run the Redwood Empire Food Bank’s booth at the 2nd Annual Windsor Pride Festival on June 10th from 2-8pm. You will need to come to the warehouse on Friday, June 9th to pick up a canopy, table, and supplies, and return the items on Monday, June 12th. Please respond to this email if you would like more information, or would like to help out.

Stamp Out Hunger
The National Association of Letter Carriers will host their traditional Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 13th. It is the largest one-day food drive in the country! Community members will leave a bag of non-perishable food donations next to their mailboxes on May 13th, and their letter carriers will pick up their donations which will then be brought back to post offices for pick up by the Redwood Empire Food Bank. We are looking for 10 volunteers to help letter carriers unload donations from the mail trucks as they return to the Santa Rosa Annex post office and place the donated food into totes.
