Welcome to the latest issue of E-Viewpoints, the newsletter of the Texas Tech University College of Human Sciences! As the spring semester ends, we celebrate our recent graduates and look forward to a summer full of learning both on campus and off. Several members of our faculty and a graduate student were recently awarded Global Vision Awards for making an international impact. United Future Leaders Selected for 2019 Gold Medal Award

The United Future Leaders program in the Center for Adolescent Resiliency was selected to receive a 2019 Gold Medal Award by the Lubbock Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. Gold Medal Awards are presented to organizations like UFL who have worked to improve the quality of life for Lubbock residents over an extended period of time.

Texas Tech Students Awarded Fashion Design Scholarships
Texas Tech Students Awarded Fashion Design Scholarships

Students in the Department of Design competed in the Fashion Group International (FGI) of Dallas Scholarship Competition. The FGI Scholarship Competition provides college students an opportunity to demonstrate their talents in design, construction, fiber usage, and trend research. Many Apparel Design and Manufacturing (ADM) majors were selected as scholarship recipients for their designs.

Each academic year, one outstanding senior is selected by each undergraduate program in the College of Human Sciences.  This honor is awarded to one student who has risen to the top of their program and embody the mission of the College of Human Sciences, in that they are "improving and enhancing the human condition."

2018 Nutritional Sciences alumna, Taylor Preston, decided to study nutrition because she always had a great desire to work in the health care field. Taylor says her bachelor's degree in Nutrition at Texas Tech University stood out for its supportive and encouraging faculty.

Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) alumnus Neil Curlee graduated from Texas Tech University in May 2015 with his bachelor's degree and went on to attend Covenant School of Nursing. He then graduated from Covenant in 2017 and is now working as a Registered Nurse (RN) on the pediatric floor at Covenant Women's and Children's Hospital.
