Isaiah 46:9-11
Remember the former things, those of long ago;
    I am God, and there is no other;
    I am God, and there is none like me.
I make known the end from the beginning,
    from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
    and I will do all that I please.’
 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
    from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
    what I have planned, that I will do.
New International Version (NIV)
               One philosopher quipped, “If God made man in his own image, man has been trying to return the favor ever since.”  One danger in our spiritual lives is thinking that God is a senile benevolence who doesn’t really care what we do.  Or as Psalm 50:21 says, we begin to think God is like us.  God is not exactly like us, and that is good.  He is trying to make us like himself!

                The God of the scriptures is the ruler of the ends of the earth who fills the whole world with his glory.  He is not a little district deity who likes what we like and hates the things we hate.  Isaiah saw him and the train of his robe filled the temple.  When God says, “No one is like me,” he is trying to show us that he is different than we imagined.

                 Our great God is not playing hide and seek with us.  He is playing “seek and you will find.”  So God reveals his eternal purpose.  He knows the future and accomplishes his purposes.  God is consistent with his own nature.  He does what he says he will do and accomplishes his plans.

When we recognize how great God is, we are  not inclined to see him as our assistant to help us through our day.  If our God can be manipulated, and fit neatly into our plans, our God is way too small.  There is only one true God.  Let us align our lives with his greater purposes today.
Pray with me:
Father, give us a greater vision of your Sovereignty.  Show us your glory.  Make us holy like you are holy.  We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen!
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
