Welcome to Newborn Connections' first newsletter!

Newborn Connections is your resource for pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting. We serve patients and the public as the Perinatal Education department, Outpatient Lactation Clinic and Mom & Baby Boutique of California Pacific Medical Center. Our services include prenatal classes, postpartum groups and lactation consultations. Visit us online to register for classes. Or stop by our boutique for mom & baby supplies, nursing bras, breast pump rentals—you can even feed, change or weigh your baby in our library!

CLASS HIGHLIGHTS
Baby Steps to Parenthood group is back January 6, 2016!
Our weekly Baby Steps to Parenthood group will begin on Wednesday, January 6th. Join other new parents to discuss the joys and anxieties of adjusting to parenthood. Brett Collins facilitates this group every Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Newborn Connections library, located at 3698 California Street, first floor. Cost is $5 per class, no registration required.
Meet Brett Collins!
Brett Collins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Post Partum Doula and Certified Instructor of Infant Massage. She has been working with young children and families her entire career, including over 10 years of therapeutic experience in homes, schools, clinics and hospitals. Across all settings, the goal of Brett's work is to increase confidence and joy between caregivers and their child(ren). 

Brett is a native of San Francisco (Go Giants!) and mother of two young children.
Infant CPR & First Aid
Infant CPR & First Aid is a 3-hour class that focuses on how to recognize and respond to the most common infant medical emergencies. A certified CPR Instructor facilitates this class, and participants practice what they learn on state-of-the-art feedback mannequins. Cost is $120 per couple; please register online.

Transition to Parenthood Series
Are you ready for the changes that can happen when you become a parent? Transition to Parenthood focuses on identity, relationships, and the postpartum period, including postpartum depression. This series consists of two classes: Happy Partners, Happy Parents and Emotional Rollercoaster. Cost is $40 per couple, per class; please register online.

Boutique
Visit our boutique for items for mom and baby. We carry many unique items, including magnetic-closure onesies, organic nursing pads, baby carriers, and more! We offer nursing bra fittings and have a wide range of sizes (band sizes 32 - 50 and cup sizes A - M) to meet your needs. Brands include, Bamboobies, Medela, Dr. Brown, Simple Wishes, Original Sprout, Zutano, My Brest Friend, and Ergo, as well as items that are organic or all-natural.

Lactation Support

For breastfeeding support, call our lactation warm line at (415) 600-6243 to speak with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. One-on-one consultation appointments are available.

For latch and positioning checks with a lactation consultant in a group setting, call that same number, (415) 600-6243, to participate in the weekly Latch Clinic on Mondays from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $25, with advance registration required.

Questions about breastfeeding? Want to talk with other breastfeeding parents? Visit our drop-in support group with a certified lactation consultant on Fridays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $5; no registration required.

Newborn Connections is currently looking to add to our amazing team!
