Hi Neighbor!
Several years ago, when I was losing my mind trying to keep two children ages two and under alive and entertained I realized that I needed something for myself. So I signed up for a drawing class at a local art gallery. I was horrible. But I loved it! For two hours every Thursday, my classmates and I would sit around a large table, and as we sketched, we would talk about art we loved, books we’d read, movies we’d seen and places we’d traveled. (Diapers, naptimes and the best postpartum jeans never came up, thank goodness.) I felt like a different person, and it was amazing what that class did for my sanity—and my soul. So maybe you’re not knee deep in babies and spit up, but you’re still feeling a little aimless, bored or curious. Here are some places on the Main Line to rise out of your rut:

Main Line School Night – Over 500 lively, affordable day, evening and Saturday classes for adults. Sample courses: Laughter Yoga, iMovie: Film Editing, Introduction to Backyard Beekeeping, Painless Piano, Designing Board Games & Making Money in Voice Overs.
Wayne Art Center & Main Line Art Center – Classes for beginners and professionals, from ceramics, drawing, painting and glass fusing to jewelry making, digital arts, sculpture and culinary arts.
Albertson’s Cooking School – Classes with noted chefs and caterers at various locations. Offered this fall: One Bowl Wonders, The Autumn Vegetarian and The Chopping Block: Knife Skills.
The Actor’s Lab – Channel your inner actor with day and evening classes for beginners and pros. Improv classes too!
Main Line Ballroom – Dance studio in Ardmore offering lessons in all genres, including the tango, cha-cha, rumba and waltz. Singles and couples welcome.
Rosemont College, Villanova University & Bryn Mawr College – All offer continuing education programs for lifelong learners.

ENJOY!

Thirty years later the Festival stretches a mile and features culinary events, growing exhibits, children’s entertainment, and 200 vendors with attendance calculated at up to 100,000 guests. The Mushroom Festival's Grant Program has given $700,000 in grants to local non-profits since 2000. In 2015, 47 organizations received $80,000 in grants from the Mushroom Festival.
