Dear Red Dragons,
I am honored to join the SUNY Oneonta community as the ninth president. I believe in the power of education to help students achieve their dreams, and I am proud that you chose our college to complete your degree. This is an incredible place to learn and grow both inside and outside of the classroom. I hope you build strong relationships with the faculty and staff who are here to help you discover your passions, capitalize on new opportunities, and learn how you intend to make a difference in this world. I urge you to get involved, ask questions and support each other.
This year, it is very important that we all follow the health and safety guidelines. The good plans in place will ensure we all have a safe, engaging and rewarding academic year.
In the weeks and months ahead, I look forward to meeting you in a variety of settings and hearing your thoughts on how we can realize our mission of nurturing a community where students grow intellectually, thrive socially and live purposefully. I had a wonderful time sharing in the Pass Through the Pillars tradition with the new students on Aug. 27, and I am excited to participate in many more events and traditions.
I invite you to learn more about me in a story which shares information about my path to Oneonta, as well as my priorities and interests. I'd also love for you to join me for one of the September Socials on the quad this month. I can’t wait to meet you!
Sincerely,
Alberto J.F. Cardelle, Ph.D., MPH
