President Collins to Sign Statement Against
Anti-Semitism with Joint Coalition, Urges Others to Reject Racism |
Walsh University President Tim Collins will join other Catholic university presidents in signing a joint statement of solidarity denouncing anti-Semitism in all forms, committing to combatting hatred of the Jewish people, and urging Catholic ecclesia and lay leaders, parents, teachers, professors, and public servants to fearlessly confront anti-Semitism. The statement, in part, specifies that the signees reject hatred, bigotry and racism in all their forms. Read More

Register for The Education for Life Colloquium Series |
The Education for Life Colloquium Series, presented by Dr. Chris Seeman, Chair of Theology at Walsh University, and Rabbi David Komerofsky, Temple Israel, Canton, is a five-part exploration into the Jewish and Christian roots of Walsh University’s core values: Faith, Excellence, Integrity, Service and Community. The interfaith presentation, “Prayer and the Spiritual Journey,” on Thursday, Nov. 9, will examine the foundational importance of individual spiritual journeys and prayer of the Judeo-Christian tradition. The series continues with part two, “Discovering and Pursuing Our Ultimate Purpose,” presented on Thursday, Dec. 7, the beginning of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. Experience a lighting of the menorah by Rabbi Komerofsky and learn about its significance. Each part of the five-part series will be held in the Barrette Business and Community Center, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Save the Date: Annual Science and Technology Summit |
The annual Science and Technology Summit, Fostering the Next Super-Star City: SPARQing Innovation and Economic Development Through the Sciences will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Barrette Business and Conference Center. The event highlights how advancement of the Sciences fosters innovation and creates economic vitality. Hear from distinguished guest speakers Dr. Jonathan Gruber, Chair of the Economics Department, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and co-author of Jump-Starting America and Dr. James Moore III, Assistant Director of the Directorate for Education and Human Resources, National Science Foundation. Fifth Annual Community Cybersecurity Conference |
Walsh University, in partnership with Pelican3 and Information Security Summit, co-hosted the fifth annual Community Cybersecurity Summit on October 12, 2023, a free event that has been touted as one of the most informative conferences in the region. The conference brought together representatives from Ohio-based businesses and vendors, government offices, local chambers of commerce, the Stark Economic Development Board, Strengthening Stark, high school students and Walsh faculty, staff and students for a day of speakers, networking and breakout sessions that focused on the economic development in Ohio, how advancements in technology create vulnerabilities and new cyber threats, and how businesses can protect themselves. Jami Swain ’12 has been appointed Director of Human Resources & Culture, reporting to President Tim Collins. She brings over 20 years of experience to this role and was recently awarded the 2023 Crain’s Cleveland Business Excellence in HR award for Employee Experience and Retention. She will play a key role in setting and executing human resources strategy and supporting the organization's goals. Read More

Congratulations! Zach Kreft, Assistant Coach for the Walsh Cross Country programs, won the Columbus Marathon with an unofficial time of 2:18:07 last weekend!

The WAVE (Walsh Accelerated Vision for Educators, a grant supported (by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and Ohio Department of Education) Cohort recently traveled to Columbus to give a presentation at The Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organization conference on the WAVE program and what they learned. The Walsh students who attended the OCETO event included: Morgan Darnell, Leah Greczanik, Lily Jones, Karah Pritchard, Christina Oros, Portia Svenson and Sara Thompson.
