High School Planning Meeting and Open House
Dear Eighth Grade Families,
On Wednesday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m., we will kick off the high school search process. We look forward to you joining us for this meeting in Singleton Hall's Allen Library.
For the first thirty minutes, we will provide an overview of the ins and outs of the process as well as answer questions. Our children will join us for the second half hour to explore in more detail the role each of us plays in making this process a positive one. At about 2:00 p.m., we'll adjourn to the Great Hall where admission officers (and some St. Michael's alumni/ae) from Richmond area schools will be available to talk about their programs and answer your questions.
Attached is our Guide to the High School Search Process. This document represents a distillation of many years of experience assisting students and their families through the high school search process. Please save it for future reference. Additionally, I suggest you and your child read it prior to the October 10 meeting. You will both get a lot more out of our session if you do.
Lastly, please note that the Henrico Public School System is holding some of their high school specialty center open houses in advance of our meeting on the 10th. Dates are as follows:
- Sept. 26, 2018: Varina High School Communications and Media Relations Program
- Oct. 4, 2018: Henrico High School IB Program
- Oct. 9, 2018: Douglas S. Freeman High School Leadership/Government Program
- Oct. 15, 2018: J.R. Tucker High School IB Program.
