Cavathon Has Record-Breaking Year!
Walsh University’s Cavathon is celebrating a record-breaking year! Last Saturday, 53 students took part in the ninth annual Cavathon, raising more than $49,000, the most the program has ever raised at Walsh. Students danced for 12 consecutive hours to raise money and awareness for Akron Children’s Hospital. Proceeds were also raised during last week’s “Pie the President” event in the Marlene and Joe Toot Global Learning Center. Cavathon works all year to raise funds and awareness to "change kids' health and change the future" for the children at Akron Children's Hospital and in support of all the Children's Miracle Network. Blouin Scholars Visit Lighthouse Ministries for Retreat Walsh University Blouin Scholars with help from Lighthouse Ministries came together for an overnight retreat on March 17 for dedicated time to learn and connect. The sophomore cohort heard stories of how communities like Southeast Canton can be targets of human exploitation and the work needed to respond with love and humility. The retreat included time for participants to hear presentations on two topics: the lines that shape Canton and the shift in family makeup. They also reflected on global challenges and their role as change-agents, toured Lighthouse Ministries, Habitat for Humanity and Refuge of Hope, and took part in a service project at Lighthouse Ministries. The retreat ended with a “Call to Action” panel discussion with community partners from RAHAB Ministries and Canton City Schools. Read More.
