Final Exam Survival Strategies for College Students

It’s that time of year again, college students across the country are preparing for final exams: cramming into libraries pulling all-nighters and drinking way too much caffeine. It doesn’t help that the last few weeks of the semester tend to coincide with longer, warmer days making it even harder to stay on task.
We realize finals can be stressful and bring some anxiety. Fortunately, with a little planning and some mindfulness, your student can make it through finals relatively unscathed. Here are some suggestions to pass on to your students to help them finish this year strong.

Summer Housing Options

Students wanting or needing to stay in Baltimore for the summer are able to do so through either Summer Housing or Summer Sublet. Both options are within university housing but have a few differences.
Summer Housing is available only to JHU undergraduate students enrolled in summer courses or an internship. Students participating in Summer Housing are assigned in Charles Commons, one of our residence halls. Summer Housing begins on Sunday, May 26 and ends on Saturday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m.

HopServe50 Celebration

The Center for Social Concern’s annual HopServe50 end of year celebration is just around the corner on Saturday, May 4. HopServe50 is a service challenge to complete 50 (or more!) hours of service in partnership with the greater Baltimore community throughout the academic year. We encourage all Homewood students to participate each year. Many students volunteer with local neighborhoods—planting and cleaning community gardens, tutoring and mentoring students in after school programs, serving food at soup kitchens, and just about everything else in between.
This year’s celebration invites over 500 students who have participated in the challenge for an evening of food, fun, and friends as we look back on another impactful year of service. We thank our HopServe50 participating members for their passion for service, community engagement, and our Baltimore community.
