Dear 3+3 Program Partners,
Included in this newsletter you will find helpful tips for 3+3 students and some recent Drake Law School highlights.  Please pass this along to others who may be interested.
  • Students applying for Fall 2018 admission to Drake Law School in the 3+3 program are encouraged to apply in early 2018 after Fall 2017 grades are released. 
  • Applicants to the 3+3 program use the normal Drake Law School JD application process; the only additional requirement is a letter from the undergraduate advisor confirming the student will fulfill all of the requirements for the bachelor’s degree by the end of the first year of law school.  
  • Students enrolling at Drake Law School through the 3+3 program will receive a $5,000 per year Drake Scholars Award. The award is automatically renewable for all three years of law school and may be combined with other Drake Law School scholarships up to full tuition.

Law Opportunity Leadership Program for Diverse Students


Drake University Law School is partnering with Des Moines-area employers to establish the Law Opportunity Leadership Program. The program provides internships, mentorship, and leadership training for five qualified Drake Law students from underrepresented groups.

Drake Law Opens Entrepreneurial Clinic


Drake University Law School’s Neal and Bea Smith Legal Clinic has received a $500,000 grant to provide free legal services to current and aspiring entrepreneurs in low-income neighborhoods. The clinic aims to spur community revitalization by removing or reducing legal challenges that impede the success of new businesses and nonprofit groups.

New Compliance and Risk Management Program


The program, offered through Drake Law School and Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration, includes a professional certificate, a Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) degree, and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree.

From California to Drake: 3L Torii Millet


As a California native, Torii Millet never pictured herself in Des Moines, Iowa. But when her husband was relocated to Iowa for his job, Millet turned to Drake Law School to achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Shannon Bogolin, LW'17, advocates for children


When Shannon Bogolin was 16 years old, she became a Child In Need of Assistance (CINA) and was placed in independent living in Des Moines. Now more than two decades later, she earned her law degree to become an advocate for juveniles.
