On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, the Department of Campus Safety received a report of a sexual assault/fondling that occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m., in front of 35 West 4th Street, in Manhattan.
An NYU student was walking west on West 4th Street, between the Education Building and the Starbucks, when an unknown person walked up behind the victim and touched their buttocks, without their consent. As the suspect passed, they turned to look at the victim and smiled, without saying anything. The unknown individual then continued walking west on West 4th Street into Washington Square Park. There were no further interactions reported.
No physical injuries were reported. The student was offered support services. The NYPD was notified and a police report was filed.
Description of Suspect: The suspect was described as male-presenting with a light complexion, approximately 5'1" with red hair. The victim decsribed the suspect's race/ethnicity as white.
