Dear Faculty Colleagues,
Following on the heels of the faculty Antiracist Pedagogy Seminar, we are pleased to announce a new faculty-led DEI initiative, the Peer Consultation Program. In this program, faculty experts serve as peer mentors and facilitators for small groups of faculty interested in exploring strategies and ideas for cultivating classrooms that reflect shared values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Last year, we came to the Silver student and faculty community with a request for names of faculty who are leaders in this area, whom YOU would nominate for the role of Peer Consultant. We were blown away by your responses! A total of 167 students and 56 faculty members submitted nomination forms, nominating a total of 65 different faculty with strengths in anti-oppressive teaching. On the strength of your votes, we are pleased to announce this year’s three Peer Consultants, Professors Zoila A. Del-Villar, Robert L. Hawkins, and Amanda Mays. We are grateful for their willingness to offer their wisdom, coaching, and consultation services for the Spring 2021 term.
