A new scholarship in honor of Lance Heflin, BJ ’77, will create exciting opportunities for students interested in investigative journalism. Heflin served as executive producer for “America’s Most Wanted” for 20 years, during which the show helped more than 30 abducted children return to their families. Heflin also earned four national Emmy Awards for his work on “48 Hours” and CBS Evening News.

Nischelle Turner, BJ ’98, is the co-host of “Entertainment Tonight” and the first Black woman to host the program. With seven Emmy Awards, the accomplished journalist puts her Missouri roots front and center on her Instagram, where her bio reads “COMO 4life.” This awards season, follow her on Instagram for a front-row seat to her star-studded journey covering the world of entertainment.

Thirty-seven strategic communication students worked with 18 student-athletes during the fall semester to develop social media branding plans and pitches that could help the student-athletes obtain NIL (name, image, likeness) branding deals. It’s just the latest example of how the School provides hands-on opportunities students can’t get anywhere else.
