MUSE Ebooks Available for Single Title Purchase
Libraries may add MUSE books to their collections by purchasing individual titles. Two options are available for purchasing single titles: ordering through YBP Library Services, and participating in the MUSE EBA pilot program.
  1. YBP - include ebooks from MUSE in your approval profile or place firm orders via the GOBI system
  2. EBA Pilot Program participate in MUSE’s pilot of evidence-based, demand-driven acquisitions to allow for broad discovery and selection of titles appropriate for your institution. MUSE is looking for universities, university systems, or library consortia with a strong interest in the UPCC content and a reasonable budget to commit to the pilot.
Please contact MUSE Book Sales for more information.
Back Issues Added in April
Back issues were added for two journals in early April.
Open Access and Hosted Journals on MUSE
Project MUSE recently launched its first fully open access journal, RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences.  RSF is a peer-reviewed journal designed to promote cross-disciplinary collaborations on timely issues of interest to academics, policymakers, and the public at large. Four issues are now available on MUSE for all to access and read.
The availability of RSF on MUSE is made possible through a new Hosted Journals program, which allows publishers to include journals on the platform outside of the MUSE Journal Collections. MUSE Hosted Journals are integrated into the complete list of journals and benefit from all of the same features, functionality, discoverability, and services as titles in collections. Libraries can have access to these titles based on how publishers choose to offer Hosted Journals, either as a subscription or as open access. See journals currently Hosted on MUSE
Inquiries from peer-reviewed journals in the humanities and social sciences regarding the Hosted Journals program are welcome, in particular those titles interested in an open access model. Contact MUSE Publisher Relations with questions and for more information.
Just a Reminder
Two reports help you keep track of MUSE journals and/or books at your institution:
MARC records - request customized records sets for the date range that you need. The date specific set provides the flexibility to apply up-to-date records at your convenience and allows a library to choose when and how often to download the MARC records
All MUSE MARC records, Full Sets and Custom Sets, are current as of the date they are downloaded.
Usage statistics - MUSE usage statistics are compliant with Release 4 of the COUNTER Code of Practice. Among the many COUNTER reports available:
  • Journal Report 1 (JR1): Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal
  • Book Report 2 (BR2): Number of successful Section Requests by Month and Title
  • Book Report 5 (BR5): Total Searches by Month and Title
  • Platform Report 1 (PR1): Total Searches, Result Clicks and Record Views by Month and Platform
Download reports monthly or for a more extended period of time, whichever is most convenient.
