We hope your semester is going well! Soon registration for Fall 2023 classes will be open. In preparation for the registration season, we’d like to remind you of in-person class registration requirements for international students.
Since the spring of 2020, the US government has allowed for certain COVID-19 exemptions from the in-person registration requirement for some international students. These exemptions have allowed for students who were present in the United States and continuously pursuing their studies since March of 2020 to fully enroll in online courses (with the permission of their academic programs) and still maintain their legal status in the United States.
We anticipate that these exemptions will no longer be in place for the 2023-2024 academic year, therefore we request that you keep this information in mind in preparation for the Fall 2023 registration period. This means that all international students enrolled at NYU may take
no more than 1 class or 3 credits of online class that would count towards the full-time enrollment requirement. For more information on registration requirements for international students, including eligibility requirements for registering for a reduced course load, please visit
register part-time: reduced course load web resource.
Sincerely,
The Staff at Global Services
