I live in one of the hotspot neighborhoods in NYC or surrounding counties. Should I still be coming into work/class?
Not so much.
Generally speaking, if you live, work, or have recently attended gatherings of any type or visited families in one of the NY hotspot areas — in
Brooklyn, Queens (
here or
here), or
Broome,
Orange or
Rockland Counties —
it would be better if you could work/attend class from home for the time being (other than essential employees, who are expected to continue to report to work).
Some important reminders:
- If you are spending or have spent time in hotspot neighborhoods, be really conscientious about mask-wearing, physical distancing, hand hygiene, and avoiding large gatherings. In hotspot neighborhoods, these practices are even more important.
- Make sure you are keeping to your regular schedule of testing. If you live in or have been spending time in one of the hotspot neighborhoods, it's extra important now. If you live in one of the hotspot areas and are following our guidance to work/attend class from home, you can fill out this form to request a test be sent to you by mail.
- If you feel sick, do not come to campus. If you are a student, please contact the Student Health Center; if you are an employee, please contact your healthcare provider and notify your supervisor or manager.
We are monitoring the situation closely, and we will update the campus community when it is okay for those who have spent time in these neighborhoods to resume their regular trips to campus.
