Oregon Parks starring dark skies |
|
|
As September daylight grows shorter, and nights longer, what better time to visit Oregon’s parks to view celestial events. Oregon is a prime destination for stargazing enthusiasts, thanks to its diverse natural lands and relatively low light pollution in many areas.
Nestled in Lake County of Southern Oregon, the Oregon Outback International Dark Sky Sanctuary offers one of the most breathtaking night sky viewing experiences in the United States.
One of the best places to see stars is the Prineville Reservoir State Park. Designated as Oregon’s first official International Dark Sky Park, this area offers stunning views of the night sky, especially during the summer months when special tours are offered. The park is in Central Oregon, far from the light pollution of major cities, making it ideal for observing constellations, meteor showers, and even the Milky Way. Read more

While the best nights for viewing stars is when there is no moon, look out for the Harvest Super-Moon Eclipse in September This month’s full Harvest Moon will happen on September 18, 2024 at 02:34. On the night of Sept. 17 into Sept. 18, a portion of the moon will pass through the Earth’s shadow, resulting in a partial lunar eclipse. The phenomenon will be visible throughout North and South America, Europe and Africa. Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse can be viewed without protective eyewear. More

Hydro Flask, an award-winning leader in high-performance, insulated stainless steel bottles, tumblers, food and soft good innovations, and a Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ: HELE) brand, is excited to announce a two-day Parking Lot Sale. The event will be held at the brand’s headquarters, located at 525 NW York Dr. in Bend, Oregon, on Sept. 26, 2024, from noon to 5 p.m., and Sept. 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The sale will feature a wide selection of Hydro Flask’s discontinued items, lightly blemished seconds and unused return merchandise at bargain prices. The event will also include select products from other Helen of Troy brands, including OXO and Osprey. A special addition to this year’s sale is the introduction of MyHydro™ customization. Shoppers will have the opportunity to personalize their Hydro Flask bottle with a unique cap, strap and boot —while supplies last. Food trucks and coffee vendors will be available on-site to keep shoppers fueled and refreshed throughout the event.
In keeping with Hydro Flask’s commitment to supporting the community, a portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to four Oregon-based non-profits – specifically, each of the following will receive $20,000: Oregon Parks Forever, Every Kid Sports, Caldera and The Environmental Center.
“This is truly an event for the community, including non-profits, residents and visitors alike. For consumers, it’s an opportunity for great deals, to do some early holiday shopping, or maybe even find that favorite product from years ago that holds cherished memories from their adventures.” says Indigo Teiwes, Director of Corporate Responsibility at Hydro Flask.
