I imagine telling my body that I am sorry, singing myself gentle lullabies and kissing each limb goodnight.
Kathryn Wendeln, Age 17, 2005 True Body Project Literary Journal
Nothing makes this Aquarian, Ennegram Social 7 happier than collaboration and connections, and watching how relationships develop and flourish over time. In fact, we've built The Well programs entirely around collaborations with extraordinary partners.
In 2005, I had the idea to create an embodiment and empathy-building experience for teen girls. I reached out to ArtWorks and together we reached out to the YMCA. And just like that, the True Body Project was born. Thirteen teen girls came together for 6 weeks at a YMCA branch and explored movement, mindfulness, art and writing with the support of many teaching artists and inspirers. Together, we created a literary journal and a documentary film.
Next month, one of the then-teen participants of that pilot will join our TBP Mindful Embodiment Masterclass, our 6 month virtual Leadership Training to help individuals understand how to decode the language and theory of somatics, embodiment, and relational healing and to find simple yet profound practices toward resilience and ease. Our work in trauma-informed, cross cultural embodiment and practical somatics work has continued since 2005, and the award-winning True Body programs have served boys and girls, men and women ages 8 and up.
Earlier this year, we partnered again with ArtWorks on Camp cARTwheel. And now our Wellspring Fellow Kara Pierson and I are serving the YMCA's RESET program as their Mindfulness Coaches. We are also enjoying the RESET program ourselves, remembering again how simple shifts in daily attention, fortified by community connections, can lead to maximum joy.
Let's connect now, plant some seeds, and watch what grows.
Warmly,
Stacy Sims Founder

| Beyond Black History Month
In this year of listening, we've grown so much, as individuals and as an organization.
Stories are the starting place for deepening an understanding of disparities. If you haven't yet connected with the stories of our Three Sisters, please do. We took a collective breath for a month, and are back this Wednesday to record a new session. So this is a perfect time for you to catch up!
We are also excited for Wellspring Fellow Kara Pierson to hold space for Black and Brown women in March. We consider this "plateau" work essential to healing. For more information, click here.

Somewhere in All of This I Found Myself
At The Well, we make space for personal, relational and public work. This month's Story from The Well comes from our Communications Coordinator Rowe and explores their experiences navigating their own personal sphere. Read about their journey to queerness and how showing up for themselves has changed how they show up for others in their piece "Somewhere in all of this I found myself."
