Foster Care Alumni Succeed and Thrive (FAST) Academy Scholars Program at Texas Women's University
|
|
|
FAST Academy at Texas Women's University is a new short-term, summer residential bridge program specifically designed to help former foster youth succeed and thrive! This 3-week summer program is designed for graduating seniors with lived experience in care or adoption who want to jumpstart their college education in a dynamic environment. Scholars live on the beautiful TWU Denton campus where they earn up to six college credits in English 1013 and Mathematics 1013 that transfer anywhere in Texas. This scholarship covers all costs on campus during the three weeks of the summer program.

Adverse Childhood Experiences & Trauma-Informed Care Online Conference by HHSC

Join Texas Health and Human Services on Thursday, December 5 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for a free online conference discussing the best practices for person-centered care around Adverse Childhood Experiences, traumatic stress and trauma-informed care interventions for adults and children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The conference will equip service providers, caregivers and any others interested in information that will enhance their understanding of the unique behaviors and needs of people with disabilities who have or are experiencing traumatic situations.

This innovative model helps CASA programs to engage the faith community relationally and sustainably. We currently have 33 CASA programs implementing CCC in their area and would like to invite you to consider participating beginning February 2025. Cultivating at the Capitol: Discussing the Upcoming Session and the Future of CASA

Texas CASA is excited to invite all local CASA Executive Directors and Board Chairs to join us at the Texas State Capitol in Austin, TX on December 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for an in-depth legislative advocacy training and discussion. The meeting is designed to provide local program leadership the opportunity to gain a more in-depth understanding of Texas CASA’s legislative and growth strategies, current challenges confronting the CASA network and potential different avenues for advocacy in the CASA network's future.

CFE Webinar: After the Connection Tool, What’s Next – Older Youth

Hear from local CASA programs and youth with lived experience as they share their advocacy successes on the road from completing the connection tool to supporting youth to engage their network and build a lifetime support network for their future. Strengthening Core Advocacy Webinar Recording
|
|
|
The Sharpening Skills webinar held on September 25 was designed to help volunteer advocates strengthen their skills in supporting individuals with diverse needs, including those experiencing poverty and disparities due to race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and gender. We also explored strategies to promote equity and discussed how to recognize and address personal biases in advocacy work. Participants left with practical tools and insights to enhance their advocacy efforts and create a greater impact within the child welfare system.
