Welcome and Welcome Back! |
To our new students, welcome to the Tutorium! To our returning students, welcome back. We hope you had a wonderful first week of classes. Let’s make this a great semester!
The Tutorium newsletter comes out every week during the semester. It contains reminders, advice, instructions for completing important tasks, and stories about U.S. and Chicago culture. You can find links to the Tutorium newsletters on our Newsletter webpage.

Are you planning to drive to campus this semester? If so, you can apply for parking online at http://parkingservices.uic.edu. Once you sign in, you will see the information for students.
Here are three options you can choose from:
- Full Semester Parking ($421) - This is a good option if you plan to drive to campus every day.
- Student Value Card ($9 per day) - This is a great option if you plan to drive to campus occasionally (not every day).
-
Pay by Day Parking ($15 per day) - This is probably the worst choice, but it is paying the daily rate for parking: $15 each day. You can do this without a value card or a permit.

Every FALL semester you MUST opt-in (tell them that you want a U-Pass) regardless of your status last semester. Once you opt-in for the fall, you will keep your U-pass status for the spring and summer semesters. However, you must be registered for full-time classes first!
If you do NOT want a U-Pass, you do not have to do anything! For Fall 2024, the CTA U-PASS is available for any student (undergraduate/professional/graduate) taking six or more credit hours
- Dates it will work: Aug. 20 – Dec. 17.
- Deadline to opt in: Sept. 10th at 11:59 p.m. (After this date, you can NOT change your status and ask for a U-Pass. Please opt-in this week!)
- The fee for the Fall 2025 U-PASS is $163 (for three months).
-
Pick up at Student Center East using your iCard or complete this form for a different way to get it. It may take 6-8 days to activate, so do not expect it immediately.

We Need Social Media Student Ambassadors! |

Email is the official form of communication at UIC. It is very important that you check your emails from UIC on a regular basis. Emails from the Tutorium (tutorium@uic.edu) and OIS (ois-tie@uic.edu) are especially important.
Pay careful attention to emails about your classes, immigration status, and insurance. Check your spam or junk mailbox.

Wednesday, August 27th, is late placement testing day. This means that you might have new students in your class this week. You can help them by showing them around campus and helping them adjust to their new class.
