Hi All,

It is hard to believe that the fair is only 20 days away! There is still a need for some volunteers. We especially need some non-livestock volunteers in the Farm Bureau Food Stand. Please sign up at 4-H/Farm Bureau Food Stand SIGN UP HERE and some for the WWA (WI Women for AG) Food Stand SIGN UP HERE

The Youth Building is in need of helpers for Youth Building Supervisors SIGN UP HERE

Please remember to reach out to new families and help them with any questions they may have for their first year at the fair.

With the end of the 4-H year just around the corner, the 4-H Leaders Executive Board made a decision regarding Record Books. Record Books will continue to be optional, and the local clubs can continue to make their own requirements for youth to complete 4-H for the year. Youth who would like to complete record books are encouraged to do so. There will be a county level recognition as well. Each club can send no more than 10% of the Junior members and no more than 10% of the Senior members of their club to the county for Record Book evaluation. Each project is counted separately, and the overall Record Book is also counted separately in the ten percent. Club also need to have volunteers who will sign up to judge the Record Books.

Club Happenings

Achievers (Leo Panetti) Members reported on the rabbit meeting and the MAS presale meeting. Families signed up to work at the vet clinic lunch that will be held in Brownsville.

Annual Club & Group Financial Reports Due
September 1st

Each 4-H club and 4-H group is required to complete submit their annual financial report by the
September 1st. Please submit to the Dodge County Extension Office.

Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Audit Checklist
A copy of the checkbook and/or savings registry covering July 1 – June 3
A copy of the bank statement ending June 30 or July 1 for each account. Any differences
between the bank statement(s) and the ending balance reported must be reconciled and
the reconciliation must be uploaded with the Annual Financial Report.
A current inventory of land, buildings, property, or project equipment with individual values
of $1,000 or greater.
Monthly Treasurer’s Reports for 4-H Clubs or Groups with annual income greater or equal
to $20,000.

This process allows the 4-H Club or Group to qualify for federal tax-exempt status under
the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents General Exemption Number (GEN) for
Wisconsin 4-H Clubs and Groups. Failure to submit a completed Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Repor and supporting documents by the due date could result in loss of tax-exempt status an forfeiture of all financial assets.

Camp Counselors Wanted for Dodge County 4-H Sparks Camp!

Older youth in grades 8 and up. Do you have something you’re passionate about? Want to share your passion with younger youth? Sign up to teach a session at Dodge County 4-H Sparks Camp August 2, 2022 at Discher Park in Horicon. Sessions can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes based on the activity. Campers are 5-10 years old so plan activities accordingly.

Advanced 4-H Space Academy Opens for Youth in Grades 10-12

Herdsmanship Award News

The MAS Committee voted this past week to continue small and large Beef herdsmanship groups that will be based on number of exhibitors.

We will also be removing the overall educational display awards due to no sponsorship. Please remember that there are points in herdsmanship judging that applies to educational displays.

Beef & Sheep Fitting Contests

4-H Silent Auction Baskets

Each 4-H Club is requested to provide ONE themed-basket to the 4-H Silent Auction. Please bring baskets assembled, labeled, and wrapped to the Youth Building Office on Entry Day (August 16). Please direct questions to Heather Rynearson at hrynearson@co.dodge.wi.us.

4-H BANNERS

4-H Clubs can turn in their banners to 4-H at the Extension office between August 1st-5th or bring it to the Youth Building on August 6th at 9am.

STOCK THE POND! FISH POND PRIZES NEEDED

Donations of 'FISH" are needed for the 4-H Fish Pond! Our fish have been delpleted and we need to RESTOCK the FISH POND! Contact Janet Zander at 920-382-9499 with any questions.

HELP NEEDED!

Youth Building Set-Up: Thursday, August 4 at 6:30 pm. We need strong bodies to help move display cases for the fair. If you can help contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us

Youth Building Clean-Up: Saturday, August 6 from 9:00 am to noon. We need people to sweep in the Youth Building and do cleaning in the office. Also to set up benches, tables and chairs. If you can help contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us

Fish Pond Prize Wrapping will be in the Youth Building on Wednesday, August 10, at 5:00 pm. Contact Janet Zander at 920-382-9499 with any questions.

Cake Decorating Co-Superintendent Needed: The Junior Fair is in need of a co-superintendent for the Cake Decorating Class. This responsible volunteer would need to be availableto help at the fair during Tuesday check-in, Wednesday judging, and Sunday release. If interested contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us.

Music Department Superintendent Needed: The Junior Fair is in need of a superintendent for the Music Department. This responsible volunteer would need to be available on Friday afternoon of the fair to set up and host the music performance and the music judging. If interested contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us.

Judges Helpers Needed. It takes many hands helping to make the fair run smoothly. If you would like to help during the Junior Fair judging, let us know what department you would like to help in. We expecially need helpers for Cake Decorating and Exploring! Contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us.
