Pre-Health students are often great at giving advice and taking advice, since you all care for others and learn from others every day. But are you good at taking your own advice?*

When you are struggling, try stepping outside of yourself. Imagine how you would help a friend, a mentee, or even a patient with the same problem. Treat yourself with the same compassion that you would someone else. You would probably avoid blaming the person or making them feel inadequate. You might encourage them to reach out for support or open up to someone they trust. Changing your perspective can help you view problems more objectively. You might break down the person's problem into manageable pieces and timelines. You could set priorities and identify aspects of the problem within their control.

Talk to yourself or write down your own advice as you would give it to someone else. Then follow it as if it came from someone who really cares (because it did!) And don't forget about Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)  and Academic Commons. Just a hint from an advisor!

Humphrey Visual Field for patients with glaucoma or neuro-ophthalmic disorders

Optical Coherence Tomography:

Evaluates the retina for swelling or other abnormalities and 

Evaluates the optic nerve for glaucoma and neuro disorders

Advanced Dermatology - GapYear Medical Assistant Program

Advanced Dermatology is working with CapYear to fill multiple spots in their Dermatology Gap Year Program Class for 2024- 2025. Pre-health graduates and pending spring 2024 graduates encouraged to apply. No medical assistant certificate is required.

Job Opening: NSLC Team Advisor (TA)
Medicine & Healthcare & Medicine Intensive

About the National Student Leadership Conference:
The NSLC’s Medicine & Healthcare (9-day) and Medicine Intensive (18-day) are pre-college conferences for high school
students interested in the field of medicine. The programs provide skills training and hands-on experience to prepare
students for a career in the healthcare industry. We are seeking individuals with relevant academic and leadership
experience to work with high school students and assist with residential life and office administration.
The Role:
Team Advisors guide students through their NSLC experience. Each TA is responsible for a small group of 12-16
students. TAs arrive on-site 5 days before student arrival to participate in a mandatory 4-day orientation & training. This
training runs from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM daily. Following training, TAs will work for 9-day sessions with a 3-day break in
between. TAs work very long days and are expected to be ready to assist students at any point during the program. A
typical day lasts from 9:00 AM - 10:30 PM.
