December is Construction Month!

With the success of Manufacturing Week (celebrated in October), we are excited to announce that December is Construction Month! Similar to October, FutureForward™ will again be the platform host - highlighting regional and local companies that make up the construction sector. If you are interested in participating in these events, please contact me and I'd be happy to sign you and your students up.

And in other news....just a glimpse into other projects I've been working on:

YST Grant Update
The Career Navigator Team is working together on the YST CNA Pathway Grant. We'll be turning it in after the Thanksgiving holiday. With Southeast Service Cooperative overseeing the proposal, the goal is to establish a regional pathway for students to gain CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification. If the grant is approved, registration will open in spring 2021, and the program will begin in the fall of 2021.

Talking to Professionals
I've been talking to professionals who are interested in partnering with schools through the FutureForward platform. Here's a sample of a video that was just loaded into the platform last week:

Career and College Virtual Event!
I'm partnering with another school to plan and implement their annual career and college fair, and this year, they are bringing a virtual element. Let me know if I can help you plan YOUR school's event!

Destination: Distance and Hybrid Learning

Distance and hybrid learning is a shift from what we're all used to. However, you’re not in it alone. Let me help you and your colleagues: bring in guest speakers, find career videos, coordinate virtual job fairs or college fairs. Four of my five schools have students been utilizing FutureForward™ in various ways. If you have projects regarding career exploration and you want to explore using FutureForward™, I can assist you!

STEM Forward Nominations

Every year, schools can opt in to nominate outstanding teachers who embrace STEM in and out of the classroom. For those participating in STEM Forward, we encourage you to nominate a teacher (or two) for this awesome award. We celebrate the nominees and winners in January of each year. Who do you know that deserves recognition for their work in STEM education?

Lunch and Learn?
Do you have students who are interested in an Engineering career? We are considering a format of highlighting career speakers specifically to students in a "Lunch and Learn" Zoom setting. If you have students who would like to participate, please let me know.
