October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month |
Domestic violence is a serious, preventable public health problem that affects millions of Americans. This October, we raise public awareness about domestic violence while supporting survivors and secondary survivors.
This campaign is also an opportunity to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent domestic violence.Â
Let's take a look at the facts about domestic violence and its impact on our community:
-
According to the results of the Campus Safety Report conducted annually by the Department of Public Safety, there were 158 reported cases of dating violence at the University of Utah.
-
At the University of Utah, the incidence of stalking increased nearly 70% from 2022 to 2023 (Campus Safety Report)
| |
This campaign reminds us of the importance of social wellness and building strong relationships can impact our lives.
Two of our Peer Wellbeing Ambassadors covered the campaign in two recent contributions to The Wellness Blog where you can learn more about how to take action and ways to support survivors!
