BOMA San Diego President
President's Message

Congratulations and thank you to the Membership Committee for organizing and presenting a really great Expo in April.  It was educational, interesting and a lot of fun.  It was clear that everyone put so much energy and thought into their booths, thank you to everyone that sponsored and participated in the event.
Although legislative activity, advocacy, networking and encouraging partnerships in professional development are our focus, creating interesting events is also what makes BOMA stand-out against other organizations.  Look out for upcoming activities including Emerging Leaders Golf Instruction and Happy Hour May 18th, our Golf Tournament on June 17th, Volunteer Work Party in July and Active Shooter and Day at the Races (not a combined event!) in August to name a few.
None of our events would be possible without the direction of our Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs and the dedication of their members.  I do know how time consuming it is to put on a worthwhile event and thank everyone for their participation. Don’t forget to register for May’s lunch; Programs and Seminars are planning an informative panel discussion you won’t want to miss.  Looking forward to seeing you there.
Save the date for upcoming events!

A Day In The Life Of A Property Manager
3:15 a.m. my phone rings and my day begins. Most property managers we are used to those random middle of the night calls, and make split second decisions while half asleep. “Burglar Alarm is triggered at north entry door, shall I dispatch the Police?”, says the Security Operator. Now, most people would panic when receiving a middle of the night call, and some would not even answer, but in our line of work sleep is a luxury. Yet, I still love what I do.

Brad Stoner 30th Anniversary
"On April 17th of 1986, something special happened. (No, I didn’t land on the moon, invent the computer or discover a sunken ship.) Instead, I took out my paint roller, lifted up that familiar gallon of paint and Brad Stoner Painting began serving San Diego County for the very first time."' - Brad L. Government Affairs Tips & Trends: Housing Affordability In The Golden State
For this legislative cycle, there continues to be a focus on providing significant resources to help address housing affordability, and more specifically, provide dollars to low income and homeless housing.
Late last month, the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development released a proposal for more than $1.3 billion in one-time surplus funding to help address these challenges.

Save The Date: Summer Work Party
Each year, BOMA San Diego members volunteer to spend a Saturday morning in late July working together to help a local non-profit organization spruce up their facility during an event known as the Summer Work Party (SWP).  Months before the SWP, the BOMA Community Service committee works tirelessly to find prospective locations in need of our services – from qualifying the organizations, to walking the selected facility to establish needs, securing material donations, and completing projects the day of the event.
The committee is pleased to announce this year’s beneficiary is the Boys & Girls Club of Encanto.  BOMA Board Member Diana Cuevas said “this is the largest facility we’ve worked on” since she’s been in BOMA.
