Presidents' Celebration

2021-2022 Election Results
Congratulations to all those chosen in the 2021 Election to serve GLMS over the coming year! Dr. Valerie Briones-Pryor was elected to President-Elect, Dr. Patricia Purcell was elected to Vice President and Dr. Thomas Higgins was elected to Treasurer. Spear Essay Contest Winners
Congratulations to Dr. Valerie Briones-Pryor and UofL medical student Liz Smith, this year’s winners of the Richard Spear, MD, Memorial Essay Contest! This year’s topic was “How 2020 Changed Me: My Life and Medicine” The winning essays will be printed in the July edition of Louisville Medicine.

Dr. Klaus Boel was born and raised in Germany before calling Louisville his home. After a pediatrics residency, he joined Jeffersonville Pediatrics in Southern Indiana where he remained a partner for more than 20 years. In August 2019, he retired from that practice to become Chief Medical Officer of Clark Memorial Hospital. Read more about his story and how his team navigated COVID-19 in this month’s Dr. Who.
