A big welcome to you from The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine! |
My hope is that this message finds all of you, and yours, in good health and happiness.
I would like to take a moment to introduce you to our first edition of our monthly newsletter. Our intention is to bring you news and upcoming events here at The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine.
It is a busy time of the year for us. On November 6th, we observed our 126th anniversary of caring for those in need. On November 11th, we recognized and honored our Veterans with a special program and meal. Thanksgiving will be upon us soon. Families and friends are welcome to plan a special Thanksgiving meal with loved ones. Please contact our receptionist to reserve a meal and meeting space. Immediately following Thanksgiving, we will begin to decorate ‘The Home’ for the upcoming Christmas Holiday. We have a number of special programs and events during the holiday season, which are elaborated on in this newsletter.
Thank you, for providing us the opportunity to serve your loved ones and your families. We look forward to bringing you all of the latest news and events in the months to come. Until then, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you and your families, a most Blessed Holiday Season.

The Lutheran Home hosted a Halloween party that brought together staff, residents, and family members for a festive occasion. The event featured a costume party where everyone showcased their creative outfits. Following the party, participants joined local children in a trick-or-treating experience. This event not only celebrated the Halloween spirit but also strengthened the bonds between the residents and their community.

Welcome! Anne Menden - Admissions Coordinator |
|
|
|
Hello! My name is Anne Menden and I am the new Admissions Coordinator here at The Lutheran Home. Previously, I had worked for Auburn Homes and Services in Chaska in the Business Office doing the Billing. Prior to that, I had worked in Admissions at St Gertrude’s Health and Rehab in Shakopee for almost 25 years.
Interesting fact, my first Social Work job was here at The Lutheran Home. In 1991, I had just graduated from college and covered the maternity leave for the Social Worker who was here at that time.
I live in Jordan with my husband and family. I am very excited to be here.

Tree of Life - A Christmas Tradition |
|
|
Our campus lost 50 trees due to disease. In Spring of 2024 we were able to replace 10 of the trees with your donations. We would love to continue replacing the remaining trees we lost to enhance the environment of our campus.
A donation of $25 or more will reserve a string of lights for the tree. A donation of $200 will purchase a LIVE TREE to be planted on our campus in Spring 2025.

Having worked here for more than 20 years, Becky Brandt finds all of the residents and staff to be wonderful people. Originally a nursing assistant, Becky has worked in the social services office for the past few years. She is a hard-working person who always has a smile on her face and treats all residents with respect. Whenever needed, she is always willing to help out and take on more responsibilities.
Thanks for all you do Becky!

Devotion: Served by the BEST! |
by Rev. Ed Fredrich - TLHA Chaplain
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
There is an interesting side story in the gospel about the disciples. It appears that being the twelve closest associates of Jesus wasn’t enough. They argued among themselves who of them was the most important. In Mark 10:35-37, James and John even took the matter to Jesus himself. They asked for the top two positions in Jesus’ kingdom.
Jesus used the opportunity for another important lesson. “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But that is not the way it is to be among you. Instead, whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you will be a slave of all.” (Mark 10:42-44)
That certainly is not the world’s description of the greatest! Read MORE!
