Can God trust us with his plans? A few times in my life, he has revealed his purpose to me. As a young teenager, he met me in a time of prayer and revealed that I would become a preacher. Later when I wrestled with his will, he told me yes that I could marry Melanie. Thankfully, he told her also. Forty years in, the great adventure continues. God has always been so faithful. I am thankful.
As Abraham walked his guests on their way, they looked at Sodom. Abraham's nephew lived there. The Lord planned to bring judgment on the city. Abraham would find out eventually, but the Lord decided to reveal his plans to Abraham. Why? God was about to bless Abraham and make him a great nation. His descendants would serve the Lord. God wanted Abraham to know his plans.
We rightly look in awe at this theophany, God's manifestation of his presence and purpose to Abraham. But the coming of Christ was greater still. Jesus came to redeem all who believe in him. If God gave us his only Son, we may be sure that along with Jesus, God will graciously give us all things. He has shown us his plan of salvation. God is not playing hide and go seek with his people. He asks us to seek him with all our hearts so that we may find him.
