The 2nd Annual David K Open
Who loves to play golf? Would you love it even more if you could play in support of Upstream Arts? We're honored that our friend David K (who is playing live music at The Art of We on May 11, by the way) has made Upstream Arts the beneficiary of his 2nd Annual David K Open on July 3 at Deer Run Golf in Victoria.
Upstream Arts selected for Community Creativity Cohort
In case you missed it last month, Upstream Arts is honored to be one of sixteen regional organizations selected for the Bush Foundation’s brand new Community Creativity Cohort!

Join the Conversation
In May 2014, we launched our disability is not a four-letter word campaign to generate artistic reflection and public conversation about stigma associated with disability.
Each month, we're sharing a related video or article. We invite you to respond by sharing thoughts via email, our blog, Facebook, Twitter, or in any creative form you like!
This month, we're following the new "Disability Arts" series in The Guardian. "Perhaps it’s this identification that can be the shift that alters societal perceptions around disability--that stops us all being so awkward," writes Jo Verrent in the piece that launched the series. "If you know that the person who painted that image, starred in that play or composed that exquisite symphony was a disabled person, would it start to challenge your expectations of what disabled people can achieve? If you get to see disabled people equally and widely represented within our culture – popular, street and elite – that’s got to start shifting something."
Dear Friend,
This month's newsletter is chock full of ways to come have fun with Upstream Arts over the next few months. Exhibits and performances, parties, golf, oh my! All in support of bringing the arts to people of all abilities.
Read on, enjoy, and always keep tabs on our website and social media to learn more. We're so grateful to have you in our community.

TOMORROW and FRIDAY - don't miss The Art of Me!
Opportunity Partners and Upstream Arts are thrilled to present this original multidisciplinary experience, exploring the many wonderful and complicated roles we play in our lives. Artists from both organizations, who have been working together weekly since February, will share their stories through photography, theater, song, dance, movement, painting, and poetry.
The Art of Me is FREE and OPEN to the general public. On both Thursday, April 30, and Friday, May 1, the evening will begin at 6pm with an exhibit and reception, to be followed by a performance at 6:30pm.
This show is not to be confused with The Art of We, Upstream Arts' Annual Meeting and Fundraiser coming up on May 11 (see below). We hope you'll maximize your springtime fun by joining us for BOTH events!
