Isaiah 26:3-4

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
    for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

   H. G. Wells spoke for many in our world when he wrote, “The time has come for me to reorganize my life, my peace – I cry out. I cannot adjust my life to secure any fruitful peace. Here I am at sixty-four, still seeking peace. It is a hopeless dream.”

          Is it? Where will we find peace of mind, peace in our time? Is peace even possible? In our homes, our government, our world, chaos and tumult abound, mocking the song of “peace on earth.” Is peace a hopeless dream?

          Isaiah envisioned a day when people will sing to God as a righteous nation. To our God we will say, “You will keep in perfect peace.” God not only gives us peace, but keeps us in it, perfectly. Who receives this peace? Those whose minds are steadfast, “stayed on him.” Who are those people? The ones who trust him.

          When we trust God, really trust him, we will find that God, our eternal Rock will keep us in his peace. So, trust him and watch the hopeful dream of peace come true.

Pray with me:

Father, peace eludes so many in our world. Help us not to give up on peace, today. Thank you for the promise of peace to those who trust you. We trust you. Forgive and heal our mistrust. Keep us in your perfect peace today. Say to our souls, “My peace I give to you. It is a peace that the world cannot give. It is a peace that the world doesn’t understand. Peace to have. Peace to live. My peace I give unto you.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story. With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!
