ILR Fall Registration continues thru 9/26!
Week one's registration has been robust! The instructors are prepping, the ILR Fall 2022 Course Catalog has been delivered, the office has been processing a torrent of registrations, and our excitement is overflowing. The only missing piece is YOU! See below for quick and easy ways to register.
If you requested a catalog within the past week, know that it is on its way. Not yet receiving our catalog? Request a copy.
Have an upcoming group or club meeting? Bring a stack of ILR catalogs and help spread the word. Catalogs are available in the ILR office (Oxford) and the Voice of America Learning Center (West Chester). Call the ILR office to arrange a pick-up time.

Online, mail, and in-person registration While we continue to have three easy ways to register—online, mail, or in person, online is your quickest option and immediately reserves your seat in class. Online registration—accessed from the ILR website or the "Register Now" link below—takes only minutes and requires no passwords. Once you experience the ease of registering online, you'll understand the appeal. It's the most efficient means of registering, both for you and the ILR office.

Your questions answeredQ. Why Webex instead of Zoom?
A. When ILR (and most of the world) pivoted to virtual learning in 2020, Miami had only the Webex license. While they now have both licenses, they've run out of licenses and, even if we could make the switch, we've invested too much time in Webex to justify making a switch. That said, a few of our classes will be using Zoom. If you've used Zoom, you'll notice how similar it is to Webex.
Q. I see classes that I wish were offered in a different location or format. Can they be repeated in my desired location/format in the future?
A. Ultimately, where and how to teach is the decision of the instructor. Because all instructors are volunteers, we make every effort to accommodate their wishes. If you see a class you would like to see repeated elsewhere, note that in your end-of-semester survey.
Q. How can I review the course descriptions if I don't have a catalog?
A. If you don't have a printed catalog or the PDF linked above, go to the ILR website. The link to "Classes and Events" is on our homepage.
Q. Why do I need to fill out a MU Medical Form if I am only attending virtually?
A. Unfortunately, people can experience medical emergencies during virtual classes. Miami requires a completed form each academic year. All students will be required to provide a new form each fall semester.
Q. Do I need to request a catalog?
A. If you participated in ILR or requested our catalog within the past three years, you're on our mailing list.
Q. Do I need to request a parking permit?
A. Parking permits are required for classes on the Oxford campus only. After you have registered, your confirmation email will contain the link to register your vehicle for the electronic permit. Paper permits are no longer issued.

Catalog correctionJust to prove that we're human, we'll point out one glaring mistake in the catalog. The special event bus trip, Somewhere in Time, will occur on Wednesday, September 28th (not Tuesday, as appears in the print version of the catalog).

Don't get lost
Oh, the errors we see. When you make an error entering your personal information during registration, that information overwrites what we have on file in our database. Prior to mailing the catalog, we discovered many transposed zip codes–a direct result of the information provided to us through registration. While playing zip code detective is easy, transposed house/phone numbers and email addresses, on the other hand, ensure we'll lose you. And we certainly don't want to lose you. Please be extra diligent with your digits when registering.
In addition, registration emails will come your way with the option to Opt Out of future emails. Please don't Opt Out if you plan to register in the future. Opting out will prevent you from receiving future confirmations of registration.

Early birds encouraged
The Fall Neotropical Migrants course begins this coming Tuesday, September 13th. Register in advance of its start date to ensure you won't miss the course or the migration.
Registration closes on September 26th. Please register early to enable us to get all the necessary materials to you in a timely fashion. Additionally, all in-person classes and events have limited seating, and some may reach capacity. Register early for the best availability and to ensure you are not waitlisted for your favorites.
Never hesitate to add your name to a waiting list. Openings often occur and room changes are made based on waiting list sizes.

Fall 2022 continues the year-long commemoration of our 25th anniversary. We're thrilled you're here and invite you to join us this semester as we celebrate a quarter-century of Engaging, Enriching, and Enlightening our community. Since 1997, we have focused on making a positive difference in the lives of the lifelong learners of our community. We trust you'll agree that we are fulfilling our mission in a significant way.
