Happy Valentine's Day to you all!
As I told you last month, we’re still hard at work here on all of the shows and special events we have coming up for the rest of the season, but right now I’m most excited about the newly formed Erie pARTnership between the Playhouse, All An Act Theatre, PACA, the Erie Art Museum, and the newly opened Erie Art Gallery. In the spirit of collaboration and showing off all of the wonderful things the arts organizations in our community are producing, the theaters have joined forces to present three different, exciting pieces of theatre about art. The Playhouse will be presenting Stephen Sondheim’s Pulitzer Prize winning musical Sunday in the Park with George, All An Act will have Steve Martin’s absurdly hilarious Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and PACA with Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award winning Art.
You can catch some sneak peeks on February 20th at 7:00p at the Erie Art Museum, as well engage with the leaders from the represented theatres (Mark Tanenbaum, David Mitchell, Richard Davis, and myself) as we have a panel discussion with Susan Barnett and Kelly Armour from the Erie Art Museum about the way visual art and performance art influence and support each other. As if that’s not enough, we’re working with the Erie Art Gallery to find works from local artists that will be on display in the lobbies of all the theatres during the runs of the shows. And, finally, we’ll be selling a punch card that will provide art-loving theatergoers admission to all three shows (at a discounted ticket price) as well as one free admission to the Erie Art Museum to experience the work of local artist Daniel Burke, currently on display in their main gallery. The price for the card is only $40 and will be available to purchase on site at the Playhouse, PACA, All An Act, and the Erie Art Museum, as well as online at www.erieplayhouse.org. I can’t wait to experience all this wonderful art with you and am already looking ahead to where this collaborative spirit can take us all in the future! Cheers!

DEATHTRAP — So wickedly good... it's to die for!
Deathtrap is a fan favorite, running over 1800 performances on Broadway, and has seen many revivals and tours. Beloved as a thriller, full of murder, treachery, and surprisingly, humor, it’s a must-see for anyone who loves a theatre experience filled with unexpected plot twists and turns.
This Tony-nominated play is under the direction of Charles Corritore. The 5-person cast is led by local favorite Matthew Fuchs as Sidney Bruhl, a playwright who hasn’t seen a hit show in years, and is willing to go to ANY length to be back on top. The lovely and talented Sue Ellen Wojciechowski is cast as Sidney’s caring, yet unsteady, wife Myra. Playhouse newcomer Allan Benson plays the role of Clifford Anderson, a hopeful and clever young playwright looking for a mentor in Sidney. Rounding out the cast is Lisa Rawson as the colorful psychic Helga ten Dorp, and Michael Meyer as Bruhl’s pragmatic attorney Porter Milgrim.
Deathtrap is on the LECOM Stage at the Erie Playhouse now through February 25. Contact the box office at 454-2852 or visit our website at erieplayhouse.org for tickets!

One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, this moving study of the enigmatic painter, Georges Seurat, won a Pulitzer Prize and was nominated for an astounding 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
With a stellar cast, including Domenic Del Greco, Kate Neubert-Lechner, Joe Greulich, and Patrick Thiem, Sunday in the Park with George is hauntingly beautiful and sure to leave a lasting impression as the art becomes the show, and the show transforms to art. Sunday in the Park with George
