I am writing to update you on the plan to search for the University’s next Provost and Executive Vice President.
Working with the Faculty Senate, I will launch and seek to complete an internal search during the fall semester. The process will be conducted in accordance with Article 13 of the Faculty Guide and be open to current Seton Hall employees and faculty members.
During this time of great progress for our University, as we are continuing to advance a dynamic strategic plan and historic fundraising campaign, the Board of Regents has determined that an internal search is the best and most expedient way to ensure our continued success.
By way of resolution, the Board has expressed high confidence in the search parameters. The Faculty Senate Executive Committee has joined the Board with its support as well.
Seton Hall is home to a deep well of first-rate faculty members and talented administrators. A great many possess broad institutional knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of our Setonian culture, governance structures, needs and aspirations. They offer established track records of shared governance and collaboration across campuses.
We are indeed blessed to have such a fertile field from which to select our next Provost.
In the weeks ahead, we will outline the process, charge the search committee and invite candidates to apply while keeping the University community updated.
I appreciate the efforts of Interim Provost Lillquist, who has done an outstanding job in this role for well over a year. I and Seton Hall have benefitted from his insight, tirelessness and devotion to our University. I am incredibly grateful for all he continues to accomplish.
Thank you for your support, your understanding and your good work as we prepare for the next academic year and the great promise it holds for all of us.
