Lighthouse School has selected Erland and TBA Architects to construct a new 23,000sf school building on their growing campus in Chelmsford. Lighthouse is a 56-year-old not-for-profit institution providing bioeducational, vocational, and therapeutic services and treatment in a nurturing environment for special needs students in which to thrive.
Breakwater House, which will be built next to the school’s existing 50,000sf facility on Wellman Ave, will accommodate curriculum and educational services currently being held in a leased space across town. The scope of work includes an indoor play space, library, art room, nurse and teaching offices, and much-needed additional classrooms to continue promoting total life development. A new parking lot will be added, and extra parking will also be available parallel to the lower level of the new facility.
Erland will also construct a parking lot in addition to the covered spaces the new building provides.
