What's Happening in the Office of Civic Engagement (OCE)
We’re gearing up for the end of the semester here at Bucknell. From here through Finals, it’s a jam-packed race (or speed-walk) for students, faculty and staff. Seniors are busy preparing for their next steps, and other students are figuring out summer plans.
We are excited to be recruiting for an AmeriCorps VISTA through Partners for Campus Community partners (PCCE) who will be working with both our office and with Central Susquehanna Opportunities. This VISTA Project is focusing on Healthy Futures: Food Security. This project will support Food Security capacity building efforts in our region. Please see our graphic for more information and send any interested folks to apply through the AmeriCorps website.
We are also planning an informative ½ day symposium for Community Partners in June. Stay tuned for additional details. We hope to offer a variety of sessions on topics that partners have identified as relevant to their work.
Some of our team are looking forward to presenting at Compact24, Campus Compact’s national conference in April in Denver Colorado. Our presentation is in collaboration with Susquehanna Valley Mediation and our session is titled: Sticks and stones may break my bones and words have an impact. We are also excited to learn with and from colleagues from across the country.
Sustainable Move Out will take place April 30 - May 14, 2024. Winter clothing, non-perishable, non-expired food and gently used furniture and household goods will be collected. This year Sustainable Move Out will collaborate with the Union Snyder Action Agency Food Hub, DIG Furniture Bank and Religious and Spiritual Life.
