| Salute To Women's History

What a great time of year! March brings us the start of spring, which means we are closer to warmer months ahead, more daylight in our days, and renewed hope. To the average RVer, this may mean more camping, more traveling, and more outdoor activities — actions that bring us more fulfillment in our daily lives. The month of March also brings us something important to celebrate: Women’s History Month.
What started out as International Women’s Day in 1911 has grown significantly over the past 110 years. In 1980 U.S. President Jimmy Carter proclaimed March 2 through 8 of that year as National Women’s History Week. These days, during the entire month of March, we celebrate all women who have contributed to United States history. There are women leaders nowadays in politics, sports, arts, science, and so much more, because of the guiding paths led by our women in history. In this issue, we will highlight the Women’s National History Museum and Sisters On The Fly.
To all the women of history, thank you for forging a path where one didn’t exist before.

“Thank you for having this benefit option. It was well worth the extra money! We got locked out of our RV today in 85-degree temps. Everything was inside the RV except us and our dog! Including my husband's Parkinson's medication! Called roadside assistance and within an hour they had a locksmith here!”

If you’re the type of person who goes all out for holidays, you might already have your St. Patrick’s Day decorations up. If you’re a full-time RVer, you might not have the space to bring along a lot of seasonal decorations. Whichever category you fall into, there are plenty of ways you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from your RV.
Whether you have a box of decorations already or you take a quick trip to the dollar store, hanging up some shamrocks, pots of gold, or leprechaun decorations will certainly spruce up the interior of any RV.
There are also lots of Irish dishes that you can easily prepare at the campsite, so why not channel your inner chef and honor the Irish by making one of their traditional meals? Check out KOA’s recipes for corned beef and cabbage and Guinness brownies.
Once you eat a nice meal, you’ll want to kick back and relax. When it’s time to unwind, we recommend streaming one of Good Housekeeping’s Top 30 Best Irish Movies to Watch on St. Patrick’s Day. This list is great, because it even tells you which streaming services each movie is available on!

| You gotta love a group that proclaims, “We Have More Fun Than Anyone.” Since 1999, Sisters On The Fly has promoted the joys of female friendship. In fact, it’s the largest women’s adventure group in the United States. Members are solely adult women (no children or men are permitted, but pets can participate). The other part of the rules: “Be nice, and have fun.”
SOTF members love to travel, get outdoors, and socialize. Although it’s not an RV-owners group per se, many “sisters” travel in RVs ― including restored travel trailers with vintage décor. Glamping is alive and well!
If you’re wondering about the group’s name, here’s the backstory. Real-life sisters Maurrie Sussman and Becky Clarke had so much fun on a Montana fly-fishing trip that they decided to do it again and to invite some girlfriends to join them. That was all it took. Today Sisters On The Fly has approximately 9,000 active members throughout the United States and Canada.
Organized events can range from a simple two-hour get-together to a half-day activity, or a weekend or week-long trip. Any individual or group of sisters can plan them. The sky’s the limit: fishing, of course, along with horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, ATV riding, shooting practice, etc. Less-strenuous events can incorporate sewing, antique shopping, stargazing, cooking, and much more. The main objectives: fun and friendship.
The sisterhood is also a strong support group. For example, for more than a decade, members have donated supplies and/or stitched quilts for SOTF members undergoing tough times.
All women who want to share in the sister experience are welcome.
