The CMU Swartz Center Announces VentureBridge Summer 2021 Cohort

The CMU Swartz Center has announced its VentureBridge Summer 2021 cohort. The VentureBridge Accelerator is a summer-long program hosted in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York. This summer, the program will be held virtually and will include opportunities for the company founders to create networks with mentors, customers and early-stage investors through mentor-matching, office hours, fireside chats and workshops. Carnegie Mellon University will invest $25K into each company. Companies also receive many other in-kind services.
The 16 companies selected include: AdSkate, Clean Sea Robotics, Culturely, EnerYields, Equa, ESTAT Actuation, Finish Robotics, Mach9 Robotics, MayaEats, Parthean, Propheto, Self.Best, Skeema, Slingshot, TalkTwo and ViralMoment. Shreya Agarwal (Self.Best), Alex Baikovitz (Mach9 Robotics) and Daniel McDade (Propheto) are also Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellows.

Astrobotic Announces Launch of Moonshot Space Museum
Astrobotic, a space robotics company located in Pittsburgh’s Northside, announced its plans to launch the Moonshot Museum, Pennsylvania’s first museum dedicated exclusively to space. The new museum, currently under construction and set to open in the summer of 2022, will be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization co-located in a gifted facility inside Astrobotic's headquarters. AI/ML & Fintech Microcommunities
The CMU T&E Microcommunities bring together subgroups of members interested in specific industry topics and disciplines such as AI/ML, Edutech, Blockchain, etc. The microcommunities are managed by the T&E's Community Experience department, whose goal is to build a strong sense of community and culture centered on service and entrepreneurship. As the CMU T&E community grows in membership, the goal is to grow the number of microcommunities, their individual memberships, connections and activity.
Over the next few months, the CMU T&E group aims to kick-off its top two microcommunities of interest: AI/ML and Fintech. Leads and advisors are needed to help create opportunities for members to connect and share knowledge, plan happy hours, industry chats, AMAs and more. Find out how to get involved here.

CMU Robotics Ph.D. Rogerio Bonatti Completes Thesis Defense
Rogerio Bonatti, Robotics Ph.D. student and 2019-20 Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow, completed his thesis defense on Active Vision: Autonomous Aerial Cinamatography With Learned Artistic Decision-Making on May 5, 2021.
Rogerio's research focuses on the combination of motion planning techniques together with learning methods for robust robot intelligence in real-life settings. He is passionate about developing intelligent and useful behaviors in the fields of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence and computer vision.
