DACC Alumni Association Meets, Chooses Officers

The DACC Alumni Association held an organizational meeting Friday, September 22, 2017, at noon in Mary Miller Complex room 300. 
The Association is looking for additional members. Membership dues are $50 for two years or $125 for a lifetime membership. 

DACC Foundation Honors Program 2017

Danville Area Community College Foundation hosted the Annual Honors Program for scholarship recipients Friday, September 22, 2017 in the Mary Miller Center Gymnasium. 

For the 2017-2018 academic year, the Foundation celebrated awarding a record-breaking 575 scholarships totaling nearly $730,000.  Last year, the Foundation awarded 531 scholarships valued at over  $600,000. Scholarship numbers and values at DACC have grown each year for more than a decade.

Celebrating Richard A. "Dick" Cheney

On July 12, 2017 the Danville Area Community College Trustees & the DACC Foundation hosted a Recognition Reception for Richard A. "Dick" Cheney for his service & dedication to DACC.
Mr. Cheney was the first person to be a student, faculty member, coach, administrator, and Trustee at the College. He retired from the Board of Trustees at the end of his term in April 2017. His time at DJC/DACC spans nearly 70 years and continues with his current service on the Foundation Board.
Proceeds from the celebration benefited the Pat & Dick Cheney Scholarship Fund.

Carnegie Library Dedicated

Through a land exchange with the VA Illiana Healthcare System, DACC acquired the historic Carnegie Library in exchange for the Gazebo located south of the Bremer Workforce Development Center. The public was invited to a ceremony jointly hosted by the College and the DACC Foundation on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Officials announced a planned gift of $2 million from Julius W. Hegeler II to be used for renovations on the building that was then dedicated in honor of DACC's President Emeritus Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs.

A Life Remembered: Barbara Todd

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, friends and former colleagues of Barbara A. Todd gathered in front of Mary Miller Complex to plant a tree in her memory. The day would have been her 80th birthday. 
Barbara started teaching part-time at Danville Junior College in 1966 and became a full-time instructor in 1967.  She started the women's athletic program at DACC and was inducted into the DACC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. She was recognized as a DJC Founder in 2011.   Barb retired in 2015 after 49 years of service. She passed in July 2017 after a battle with cancer.
