Teaching Tips: Wrapping up the Semester with Your Students |
|
|
We are almost at the end of the semester, with both personal and professional wrap-up to do for yourself and your students. As you have the capacity, you might consider:
|
-
Checking in with your students. How are they doing at the end of the semester? Consistent low-stakes check-ins can improve your classroom culture and feelings of student connectedness.
-
Remind students about what's due at the end of the semester. It may feel as if we're reminding them constantly, but as much as you're able, both in-class and electronic announcements and reminders ensure that students know what's coming and reassure them that they can handle the end of the semester. Reducing worry and anxiety can improve problem-solving abilities, so if we can remind students about what is due and reassure them that they can get the work done, doing so will hopefully save us a few headaches in the end.
-
If you have questions about end of semester situations, please reach out to the UTLC or the UNCG Cares team. The end of the semester can be very challenging for students, faculty, and staff, and we are here to support you.

Teaching Evaluation Pilot |
|
|
UNCG is pleased to be administering a pilot of a new teaching evaluation system, Anthology Evaluate. Much of our feedback during the 2024/25 academic year was favorable, with users finding the system easy to use and the reporting to be accessible.
Anthology uses research validated common questions; units can also add custom questions. The system mobile friendly and can be used in the classroom, which raised response rates for instructors who opted to do so this past year. Instructors and their heads have access to reporting one to two days after the close of the administration and can access their reports anytime they like online.
We are recruiting more pilot participants for this academic year! If you are interested in participating in the Spring 2026 Cohort, please click the button below to fill out the interest form.
If you have questions, please email the UTLC at utlc@uncg.edu.
