Dear Traveler,

Happy New Year!

I think we can all agree that we’re happy to see 2020 come to a close. Here in Brevard, we’re looking toward a better, brighter, and all-around happier 2021, even if it takes us a little while to get there. Making a resolution list is certainly safe to do at home, or, as I prefer, in a nice sunny spot in the forest, where I can always go for a little perspective and a lot of wonder as I consider what paths I might want to explore in the future.

As 2021 comes into view, and you give thought to your next trip to Brevard, we encourage you to recall all of your favorite local spots. Perhaps, it’s that cozy restaurant with can’t-miss-selections, an outfitter brimming with tools that inspire you to get outside, or an accommodation with an unforgettable view. With these fond images in mind, we invite you to consider giving back to those places you love. We’ve included a few ways to do just that. Thank you for being fans and friends of our special place.

Hope to see you in the new year,

The Adventurist

A savory way to help our local restaurants

Eat Local/Think Local throughout Brevard and Transylvania County
Eating well has long been one of the best parts of visiting Brevard and Transylvania County, whether you’re just out of the forest or dressed for a night on the town. Our multitude of dining options serves up such a variety of flavors and styles, even the pickiest eater is sure to find something to whet his or her appetite.
The pandemic has been tough on all of our favorite restaurants. They were among the first businesses to close and will likely be among the last to reopen at full capacity. Ninety percent of restaurant revenues go back into the community. That’s why it’s so important not just to Think Local but to Eat Local as well.  Check out tips (pun intended) for ways that locals and visitors can help restaurants in Transylvania County.  Every little bit makes a real difference.
For the long list of restaurant options in Brevard, check out the Dining page at the Explore Brevard website. Though things may be running a little differently right now, you can always find out the latest about who is open, when, how, and whether they’re offering takeout or delivery by clicking the button below.

The Transylvania Tomorrow Small Business Emergency Relief Fund
Earlier this year, Explore Brevard collaborated with other local partners to launch the Transylvania Tomorrow Small Business Emergency Relief Fund to support small, local businesses as they dealt with the impact of the pandemic.  Through generous donations from individuals and organizations, we collected and distributed $166,500 to 93 businesses in Transylvania County during the initial phase in the spring.

We have recently relaunched the initiative to provide much-needed support to our service industry businesses as they enter into the lean winter months with reduced sales and fewer reserves.  Application deadlines of January 1 and February 1 are coming up with an opportunity for these businesses to receive grants of up to $3,000.

We ask that you consider making a donation to ensure that the businesses you love are around for many years to come.  Click here to donate now or learn more.
