School of Rock New Canaan is excited to announce our SUMMER 2018 Performance Programs! We will be offering 4 different programs for students beginner-advanced, ages 7-18. Each program has a different theme and rehearses on a different day, so you have a choice on which program is best for you. We are now enrolling students age 7-18 on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocals!! Our Performance Program is designed to get students playing together in a fun, interactive environment. The program includes a weekly 45-minute private lesson and a weekly 3-hour band rehearsal. Our Rock 101 program includes a weekly 45-minute private lesson and a weekly 1.5-hour band rehearsal. Each program will have two season-ending performances in mid September 2018. The Summer is a great time to get your start at School of Rock! It's perfect for students who are too busy to join during the school year, and great for kids who need something fun and challenging to do over the Summer! Our schedule is flexible, so if you're going away on vacation or sleepaway camp you can still join. Whether you've never played before, or want to keep your chops up this season, we have the right programs for you!! If you don't have the whole Summer available but still want to rock with us, check out our FIVE one-week Summer Camp sessions that are still enrolling! Weekly Camps are another way to increase your skill set and have a blast! HOW TO SIGN UP FOR THE GIG!!
Students need parent and staff approval to sign up for ANY of our performance programs. STUDENTS MUST SIGN UP WITH A SECOND SHOW CHOICE. Every show is designed to challenge different elements of a student's musicianship, and individual student curriculum will be accommodated on the appropriate show. Remember, at School of Rock we put on shows to teach music!

Clapton is God is a tribute to guitarist, singer, and songwriter Eric Clapton and is given its namesake by the iconic graffiti that was plastered to a wall at Islington Underground station in 1967. Ranked second on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, he is the recipient of 17 Grammy Awards and a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. Play all the hits that shaped Clapton into the rock god that he is immortalized as, including works with Cream, Derek & the Dominos, Blind Faith, the Yardbirds, and solo material. This show is a crucial one for any guitar player! Albums like "Disraeli Gears" to "Slowhand" offer a mass of influence and information suitable for beginners and savants alike. When combined with amazing songwriting, iconic lyrics and vocal melodies, and fantastic instrumentation all around, this show offers challenges to students on any instrument!

Songs of Summer is the perfect soundtrack for the warm weather to come! Every song on this set list has your favorite season at the center of its title or lyrics, and will get you in the mood for all of the things you love about summer! Classics on this list include: Summertime Blues by the Who, Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams, The Boys of Summer by Don Henley, Summertime by Janis Joplin, Summer in the City by the Lovin' Spoonful, and many more!

SOUNDGARDEN + RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE = AUDIOSLAVE. The formula is simple for this show featuring modern rock icons: SOUNDGARDEN + RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE = AUDIOSLAVE! Not only are each of these bands important in their own right, but they are linked together by their band line-ups. The lead singer of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, joined Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk of RATM to form Audioslave in 2001 and release material influenced by this meshing of styles. Now you can play the seminal grunge rock of Soundgarden, the hip-hop induced revolutionary metal of Rage, and the super-group alternative rock sound of Audioslave in one great show! The list of recognizable songs on this list is almost inexhaustible, but tracks include: "Black Hole Sun,"Spoonman & "Fell on Black Days" by Soundgarden, "Killing in the Name," "Bulls on Parade" & "Testify" by RATM, and "Like a Stone" & "Cochise" by Audioslave.

| Our Rock 101 is the ultimate band experience for beginners ages 7-8 year old. Rock 101 is designed to teach band basics and starter stage craft to students who are newcomers to their instruments. This setlist of specifically selected songs includes classic and modern rock staples that teach them essential elements to get them on the fast track to our Performance Program. The best part is they'll share the big stage with the seasoned performers when they put on a full fledged rock show at the end of the season!. The program includes: weekly private music lessons, weekly 90 min. band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows, and real-life performances on stage at amazing venues.

If you or your student need to change your enrollment, if you are not continuing in the Summer, or just keeping lessons, our staff needs to know about this to make the proper changes as soon as possible! Please email the school to ensure your account accurately reflects the program you'd like to be enrolled in for the coming season. We have a 30 day cancellation policy.
