Coffee Break with the Colleges


TLI is starting a new opportunity that we're calling "Coffee Break with the Colleges". For this opportunity, members of TLI will be available in a selected college each month to work with individual faculty members, graduate student instructors, and others to answer their questions and have conversations about any of their teaching and learning needs. In the month of September, we will host the College of Arts and Sciences.
  1. Thursday, September 8th from 2:20pm - 3:50pm in Ayres Hall, Room 308H.
  2. Thursday, September 22nd from 2:20pm - 3:50pm in McClung Tower Conference Room 1210/1212.
The first 20 attendees at each event will receive a FREE "TLI Appreciates Faculty" travel tumbler.

Innovative Course Design Series


The goal of this series is to allow participants to reflect upon their current approach to course design and to consider new and inventive practices that will enable them to achieve their desired goals.

Fostering Courageous Conversations in the Classroom


The goal of this series is to provide participants with strategies and practices that will enable them to better support their students as they engage in courageous conversations in the classroom.

CIRTL F.U.E.L. (Facilitating Undergraduate Evidence-Based Learning)


Are you a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow interested in learning more about how to enhance your teaching? Join us for Facilitating Undergraduate Evidence-Based Learning (FUEL) professional development seminar in Fall 2022. This 6-module professional development seminar introduces participants to evidence-based teaching and learning practices. 3 Fantastic Summer Experiences


Over the summer, TLI hosted its 2022 Course Redesign Institute from May to June 2022 during the University’s mini-term period. A total of 20 faculty members completed the program.
We also hosted the expanded Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Funding Support Program, where 9 faculty members participated and completed the experience.
Finally, we also led our CIRTL Summer F.U.E.L. experience for graduate and professional students, as well as post-docs. A total of 22 students participated in that program.

Service-Learning (S), Research (R), and Internship (N) Designated Courses 


Are you interested in offered a course with an S, R, or N designation? We currently have over 100 courses with one of these designations included, and they make it easy for students to know ahead of time about the learning experience that you will offer them in your course. The deadline to submit your course to be reviewed and considerd for the 2023-2024 academic year is October 15th, 2022.

UT System Teaching & Learning Support


Since the fall 2021 semester, TLI began working with representatives from the other UT system institutions to learn more about how they approach teaching and learning and professional development support for their faculty. From those initial discussions, an informal teaching and learning collabortion group was formed to expand professional development offerings and foster future partnerships between each UT system member institution.
This semester, UTC and UT-HSC's Teaching & Learning Centers invite UTK faculty to participate in their fall 2022 programs and access their teaching resources. Click the links below to learn more.
